On Sunday 11th October 2009, a total of six anglers arrived at Blackpool Sands to fish the first of this years twelve Winter League Fishing Competitions, starting at 4pm and finishing at 9pm.
The weather was a bit misty to start with, but got better as the evening drew to a close, and it turned out to be a pleasant mild night.
Only 3 fish were caught during daylight, the best being an L.S.D. of 1lb 4oz, caught by last years winner, Graham Webb.
As it got darker the L.S.D. were being caught at regular intervals.
In total 14 fish were caught, the best on the day was an L.S.D. of 2lb 3.5oz by Pete Collins.
Unfortunately Alan Cotton drew a blank; Dudley Stainer one L.S.D.; Trevor Stainer one L.S.D.and a pollack; Gary Blundell two L.S.D.; Pete Collins two L.S.D.; Graham Webb six L.S.D and a mackeral.
